Email: jrouse@kemi.com  Office: 606-505-0070

Jimmy started his career in the mining industry as a general laborer/equipment operator in October of 1993, where he filled many underground positions and eventually moved to the Engineering department with the survey and permitting crew.

In 2008, he started with the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing as a Mine Safety Analyst and served as a member of the Harlan District mine rescue team.

In 2010, Jimmy continued his career in safety as Compliance Manager/Safety Professional, developing and implementing many successful programs in both safety and compliance, and becoming very involved with Behavior-Based Safety training with the workforce. During this time, he remained a very active mine rescue team member, serving as the team Captain in both Mine Rescue and First Aid and eventually became the team trainer.

In 2018, he worked as a Safety Manager and Mine Rescue Team trainer in underground coal mining, championing a culture that supports safe work practices, near-miss reporting, and a “my brother’s keeper” mentality, through close employee relationships and continuous training.

Jimmy is an ASHI certified CPR/AED and Basic First Aid Instructor, Mine Emergency Technician Instructor, State and Federal mining Instructor, Mine Rescue Trainer.

His commitment to keeping our workforce safe, along with his experience in all aspects of mining will benefit both KEMI and our policyholders to reach our common goal for “Excellence in Safety”.
